These days, everyone is working from home. So it's no surprise that I've gotten a few home office redesign jobs. One of the things I encounter most is people who spent a lot of time on Zoom meetings, and want interesting wall treatments behind them that look good on camera.
For this home office I played a little with the dark academia style, while being mindful to tow the line between maximalist and minimalist aesthetics. I chose a metallic geometric design for the zoom background because my client works in the tech space, but the home is in Belmont, North Carolina, so I wanted a nod to rustic vibes, as well.
The biggest challenge I had was with the desk. I ordered it from a big box furniture company, and it was delivered with damages 5 times! You can only imagine how frustrating this was, being in Denver and having to facilitate the desk delivery over the phone. It was truly a dramatic saga, and I will not be ordering from this retailer again. I would never dream of besmirching their good name, but I will say that it rhymes with PURNITURE BOW.
In order to match the desk I bought the armoire on Facebook Marketplace, and painted it with brown primer and black paint. One helpful tip- don't use oil-based paint with a fuzzy roller. Go sponge, or go home, baby.
