In this project, my client had an empty loft space that wasn't really being utilized to it's potential. They were going back to school to study psychology, and wanted a space that was calm, meditative, relaxing, and still vibrant enough to keep them motivated. So I embarked on a journey to transform a plain loft space into a serene meditation retreat and a productive study nook.
The heart of this transformation was undoubtedly the main feature wall. To bring the essence of tranquility to life, I chose to paint a geode-inspired mural in different shades of green. This breathtaking piece of art spans the entire feature wall, making it the centerpiece of the room. The organic lines, soothing colors, and gold metallic details in the mural create a harmonious atmosphere that perfectly complements the loft's purpose.
To enhance the meditative ambiance, I hand-constructed a canopy above the meditation corner. This canopy not only adds a touch of elegance but also creates a cozy, enclosed space that feels like a sanctuary within the loft. My main goal with this was to create a space that felt like a stylish cocoon, while also encouraging discourse and conversation.
I also hand-dyed the curtains. This not only allowed me to match the color scheme but also added a unique, handmade element to the space. Little details like this truly make a difference in the overall ambiance, and I learned a lot about dying fabrics. Needless to say, it isn't as easy as it looks, especially when you are trying to create an ombre effect.
The final result was even better than I expected, and my client really loves the space.
